A Drawing from Art Therapy: The Day I Learned I had Cancer... "Shattered Sun"

A person diagnosed with cancer experiences many different feelings that are often difficult to understand or express. A six week workshop, “Finding your way…..A path to improved inner strength and coping skills” offers the opportunity to explore some of those feelings in a safe and supportive environment. The program is based on the widely accepted concept that there is a healing quality inherent in the act of creativity. Participants focus on “doing” rather than simply “talking”.

Led by a trained Art Therapist, the group uses a variety of creative means and materials (paints, markers, modeling materials etc.) to better express and understand their feelings and emotions, regain a sense of control, and improve their coping skills. This workshop meets for about 6 weeks periodically throughout the year. Absolutely no previous art or writing experience is necessary.
