Connecticut Oncology & Hematology is a physician group practice specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, hematological and related diseases.

The group consists of 6 physicians who are Board Certified in Medical Oncology and Hematology. To complement our physician staff we have 3 nurse practitioners with concentrations in Adult and Family Practice.

The original practice opened in 1981 with Dr. Ivan Lowenthal as the first medical oncologist in Torrington. He was joined several years later by Dr. Michael Magnifico and Dr. Jedd Levine. The addition of a laboratory and nursing staff soon followed. In 1995, Dr Gerard Kruger merged his practice which added a second location in Sharon, Ct. Dr. Debra Brandt joined the practice in 1998 along with our first nurse practitioner. In the year 2000 a third location , in New Milford Ct. was added. The growth has continued with Connecticut Oncology & Hematology adding on two more nurse practitioners.  The services have also expanded to include a combination of medical, nutritional and spiritual therapies as well as an active clinical trials and research department.

Our goal has been to offer a comprehensive approach to cancer treatment and we are dedicated to quality care for patients and their families. To do this we foster close ties with the community hospitals of Charlotte Hungerford, Sharon and New Milford in Northwestern Ct. These ties, in combination with a highly skilled medical team bring cancer care that is on the forward edge of cancer research and treatment.
