Dr. Magnifico applies a commonsense approach when treating patients that involves understanding the whole person and not simply the disease. Known for his compassion as well as his clinical expertise, Dr. Magnifico received distinction as Connecticut Magazine’s ‘Best Doctor in Connecticut as Chosen by Peers’ in 2004. He was also recognized in 2006 by Connecticut Magazine as one of the “Top Docs For Women.” Of equal importance, patients find him warm and likable.

Dr. Magnifico completed his undergraduate work with a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairfield University, Fairfield, CT. He then earned a B.M.S. at Dartmouth Medical School, Hanover, NH, before earning his Medical Degree at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, NY.

For his Internship in Internal Medicine and dual Residencies in Internal Medicine and Anatomic Pathology, he chose Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, New York, NY. Dr. Magnifico completed Fellowship training in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Yale School of Medicine, New Haven, CT.

Dr. Magnifico sees patients in Torrington and Sharon. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Hematology. In addition to supervising Connecticut Oncology Hematology’s laboratory, he participates in Phase II, III and IV pharmaceutical and cooperative group Oncology and Hematology clinical trials. He is the Medical Advisor of the Torrington Area Hospice “At Home” Program.

In addition to oncology, a diverse range of activities attracts Dr. Magnifico’s attention. He is an accomplished musician and plays trumpet with several groups at Kent. High performance driving is his passion, and he is a BMW instructor who cherishes his “88 BMW. On a more personal side, his wife and three daughters are his ultimate joy.
